About Ganovation

Ganovation is a Nepal-based research, training and technical consulting organization committed to strengthening humanitarian action, disaster risk management, climate resilience and sustainable development.

Its work supports evidence-based decision-making, institutional strengthening and community-led resilience through disaster risk reduction, humanitarian preparedness and response, climate adaptation, GIS and spatial analysis, monitoring and evaluation, and capacity development.

How Ganovation works

Ganovation operates at the intersection of research, technical advisory services and field implementation. The organization works with public institutions, academic partners, humanitarian actors and communities to turn complex disaster and climate challenges into practical systems, tools and learning processes.

Its approach combines scientific evidence with local knowledge, participatory methods and operational experience. This allows Ganovation to support the full cycle of resilience work, from understanding risk and developing decision-support tools to strengthening institutional capacity, documenting learning and informing policy.

Institutional direction

The organization is designed to remain technically rigorous while staying close to implementation. Its leadership and multidisciplinary network enable Ganovation to connect academic research with municipal systems, community practice, humanitarian preparedness and long-term resilience planning.

Dr. Pal brings more than two decades of work across disaster risk governance and policy, vulnerability and risk assessment, capacity development of decision-makers, coastal and delta resilience, critical-infrastructure risk, systemic and cascading risk, GIS/remote sensing, climate adaptation and disaster-risk education.

Dr. Ganesh Dhungana

Postdoctoral Fellow, Disaster Resilience Research Network, University of British Columbia.

Dr. Dhungana holds a PhD in Disaster Management and previously served as Project Lead for the Program on Resilient Communities at the Harvard Humanitarian Initiative. His research focuses on disaster governance, community resilience, social vulnerability, sustainability frameworks, indigenous knowledge, climate-change adaptation and humanitarian action.

The Municipal Association of Nepal convened the dialogue to strengthen municipal understanding of climate vulnerabilities, encourage risk-informed planning, deepen inter-governmental coordination and translate climate policy into local action.

Ganovation Research Center served as the Documentation and Publication Partner. CRISTA was recognized as an Innovation Partner, connecting the dialogue’s policy agenda with practical climate-resilience technology.

Operational learning

Field-based CRISTA training has focused on practical system use, mobile incident reporting, geo-tagging, dashboard monitoring, information verification, visualization and coordination. Participants have worked directly with the platform through hands-on exercises designed to strengthen institutional preparedness, improve information flow and support more timely, technology-enabled disaster response.
